Progress Report on the Rayburn Chapel Preservation
December 2019: Let there be light! Rayburn Chapel has newly installed outdoor lamps that are simple, handsome, and an enhancement to the safety and appeal of the property.
November 2019: We have heat! A new propane tank allows us to turn on the inside heaters and hold services in cold weather!
September 2019: We gladly received a donation of Church Hymnals from Ms. Wanda Smith and a bookcase from the Pearson family. We also gladly received a donation of folding metal chairs from Farris Chapel United Methodist Church in Winchester.
July 20, 2019: Bro Kenneth Berry and a team of helpers applied new paint to the walls and finished minor ceiling repairs. The paint was donated by the Sherwin-Williams store in Winchester. It's a light tan that really brightens the interior. Mrs. Berry put together some floral arrangements to liven the looks inside.
July 11, 2019: The building passed the electrical inspection! Today we turned on the lights and the overhead fans! We should note that several years ago, Bro Paul Arp rounded up the materials for the new electrical system, and Mr. Doyle Coulson tied everything together. Their good work made the electrical inspection a breeze!

June 30, 2019: Bro. Kenneth Berry held an evening prayer service today at 5:00 p.m. with eight people in attendance! This is the beginning of New Creation Ministries meeting at the historic Rayburn Chapel!
June 23, 2019: Our first neighborhhood outreach project was a big success! Some 44 area residents joined us for a hotdog roast under the shade trees and a tour of the historic church. Brother Kenneth Berry addressed the group and challenged everyone to support his plan for a new congregation meeting at Rayburn. It was an incredible time of fellowship and gave the project some much-needed encouragement! |
June 13, 2019: We now have running water and a working restroom! We were grateful to learn that the plumbing system, installed in 2010 is still intact and in good working order!
June 3, 2019: Cumberland Termite of Estill Springs graciously donated a pest control treatment! We appreciate their kind contribution to the preservation project!
